Job Summary:
$15.00/hourly

The Facility Supervisor assists with the operations and maintenance of the Longview Community Center, including providing patron services, administrative functions, general maintenance and oversight related to use of the facility.

Job Scope:
Supervises part-time employees and contract professionals for the daily facility operations, programming and special events. Responsible for the monitoring of the entire facility, including patrons and operations, in the absence of full-time supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Serves as primary point of contact for patron services. Assists patrons with inquires, registrations, and other related needs.

2. Creates, maintains and performs data entry into a large variety of patron databases.

3. Processes financial transactions related to facility offerings; maintains all transaction history for all processed transactions; balances daily receipts deposits and maintains critical cash controls.

4. Responsible for monitoring and oversight of all aspects of facility operations, including rentals, fitness classes, and other offerings.

5. May assist patrons with other Parks and Recreation transactions or needs.

6. Responsible for opening and/or closing of facility and related services.

7. Responsible for general maintenance and custodial needs of facility and ensuring safety with regard to environmental conditions at the facility.

8. Responsible for maintaining records and files related to facility operations as assigned.

9. Maintains safety by following LSPR guidelines, policies and procedures.

10. Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings.

11. Ensures enforcement of rules and regulations of LSPR.

12. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Must be at least 21 years of age; and,

2. High School diploma or GED required; and,

3. Minimum of one year experience in customer service required.

4. Basic First Aid and CPR/AED required within three (3) months of date of hire.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to communicate with patrons professionally and respectfully. Thorough understanding of cash handling procedures and ability to become proficient in use of POS system. Skills in organizing, planning and preparing materials and evaluating goals and objectives. Ability to analyze community needs, problem solve and implement solutions, and relate to the needs of all age groups. Ability to establish good working relationship with public, subordinates and supervisors. Ability to maintain self-control and composure and set a professional example for the staff and participants. Ability to understand, analyze and implement ideas and concepts. Skills in communications and providing exceptional patron service. Knowledge of administrative skills and operation of personal computer and appropriate software, including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; skills in maintenance and usage of other traditional office equipment necessary.

Principal Working Relationships

Works with Assistant Superintendent of Recreation Services and Superintendent of Recreation to gain overall guidance and direction in the conduct of duties. Interacts with departmental personnel to provide quality services and to satisfy operational needs. Interacts with patrons and LSPR employees to foster open communication and positive attitude.

Physical Classification:

  • Medium: Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to raise or lower an object from one level to another, transport an object, exert force upon an object so that it moves away from or toward the force, or otherwise move objects.

  • Balancing. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
  • Feeling. Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
  • Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound.
  • Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision:

  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
