What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Legal Aid of Western Missouri?
Legal Aid of Western Missouri has openings for paralegals in our family law and federal benefits teams. The family law paralegal assists the staff attorneys in representing survivors of domestic violence with child custody, paternity and dissolution of marriage actions. The federal benefits paralegal assists in the area of federal benefits programs such as Social Security, SSI, and Medicare along with other general legal problems faced by low-income and elderly persons.
The qualified candidate must have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, certificate in paralegal studies or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of legal terminology and legal communication principles and practices
- Experience in the relevant area of law helpful, but not required
- Ability to speak a second language, preferred, but not required
- General competency in Word and Excel
Salary: $21.79/hour DOE
