What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inside Sales Account Manager position at Lehigh Valley Plastics?
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Responsible for managing company’s major accounts playing a liaison role between the customer and the manufacturing operation, QC and Accounting. Responsible for hitting or exceeding sales budget for customer territory. Works with estimating resources, provides margin targets; gets quote feedback and updates quotes with win/loss. Monitors customer margins monthly and takes appropriate action to maintain desired levels.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support sales by formulating & processing quote requests following the QSP-020 – Quote Procedure.
- Review monthly sales file to measure actual sales against budgeted sales. Work with Outside Sales if appropriate or Inside Sales Manager to get sales up to budgeted levels. (See #12)
- Process all Customer Orders following the QSP-04 – Quoting & Contract Review Procedure.
- Evaluate & confirm the profitability (review past sales and margins) & accuracy of all Customer Orders received, including revision levels of prints.
- Keep track of all outstanding quote requests; follow-up proactively for customer feedback on quotes and document the feedback when received by the customer. If feedback is relevant to other quotes or for manufacturing improvements pass that feedback on to manufacturing.
- Monitor scheduled shipment dates via Due Today/Daily Dashboard/Backlog to ensure timely delivery and expedite as needed. Proactively contact customers with any changes.
- Review monthly GP reports to assure part profitability & maintain customer margin.
- Communicate any low margin parts to the Engineering Manager and Plant Manager for further review and process re-quotes as necessary. Document action taken in the margin file to show items are closed.
- Process revision changes in accordance with EP-05 Customer ECN Tracking System utilizing QSF-003 – Customer Engineering Change Notice and follow the steps outlined in the QSP-04 – Quoting & Contract Review Procedure.
- Process and coordinate returns and/or rejections following the QSP-18 – Returned Goods Procedure.
- Monitor and resolve customer complaints and issues; document these concerns and compliments in VQ/Visual in accordance with QSP-22 – Customer Satisfaction Monitoring and Measurement.
- Review and understand EP-01 Engineering Reference Guide to have familiarity with manufacturing capabilities and standards
- Interfaces with QC on behalf of the customer for any parts flagged at QC Hold with respect to disposition – rework, remake or ship.
- Develop strategies to re-energize existing customers while introducing company’s capabilities and products to a broader marketplace.
- Provide internal support for Outside Sales.
- Conduct Outside Sales calls/visits when required.
- Assist shop personnel with any engineering questions and/or concerns on behalf of his/her customers.
- Attend supplier training sessions as appropriate; maintain and grow product and industry knowledge (e.g. IAPD material certifications).
- Related duties as assigned by Inside Sales Manager.

Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or related experience required.
- Machining background helpful, knowledge of plastic materials.
- Requires thorough product knowledge, sales skills, comfort interacting with customers and ability to develop business network.
- Able to work in fast-paced, self-directed entrepreneurial environment.
- Highly proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. MRP or ERP systems.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills required.
- Ability to multi-task with shifting priorities.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $103,769.00 per year
