Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Land Survey Field Chief to lead field survey crews and manage on-site surveying operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of land surveying principles, excellent leadership skills, and experience using various survey equipment and software such as Leica total stations, robots and GPS equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise field survey crews on a variety of projects including boundary, topographic, and ALTA land surveys.
- Operate and maintain survey instruments such as total stations, GPS receivers, data collectors and robotic total stations.
- Ensure proper data collection, documentation, and quality control of field work.
- Interpret and implement project plans, legal documents, and specifications.
- Perform field calculations and communicate data with office staff for processing and drafting.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure timely and accurate project delivery.
- Maintain safety standards and protocols in the field.
- Train and mentor junior field staff and crew members.
- Work independently with robotic instruments to complete survey work.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in surveying or a related field preferred.
- Minimum [3-5] years of land surveying experience, with at least [2] years in a field supervisory role.
- Proficiency with survey instruments and data collection software.
- Strong understanding of land surveying principles.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various locations.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and to walk long distances over uneven terrain.
