Leidos is looking for a Chief Engineer to guide technical planning and execution of a high-profile, complex multi-year contract. Leidos is the prime contractor for modernizing the systems architecture, adding significant new capabilities, managing training, and providing operational support of an important federal defense acquisition category 1 (ACAT1) program. Our execution employs the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) agile methodology combined with Earned Value management.
The Chief Engineer orchestrates program systems engineering, software engineering, security engineering, test engineering, infrastructure support and other supporting teams to achieve program modernization objectives. The role includes significant customer interaction and relationship management.

Pay Range
Pay Range $144,300.00 - $260,850.00

Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the program technical team planning and execution activities
- Provides technical guidance to manage evolution of system architecture in accordance with specified interface, security and performance requirements
- Oversee program technical roadmap, matching the pace and sequencing of system development to reach specified target milestones
- Specifies which technical objectives are addressed in successive program planning and work increments, and in what priority
- Lead technical coordination with customer technical staff and managers; support internal corporate briefings
- When necessary, recommend and manage engineering change proposal development.
- Oversee processes to ensure delivery of high-quality technical solutions.
- Contribute to program cost and schedule management, estimation, performance management, risk management, requirements analysis, and quality assurance
- Initiate process improvements to improve internal performance and help resolve customer issues
- Mentor technical leads and senior staff.
- Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI with polygraph to be considered for this role.
- Master of Science in Engineering or a related technical field and fifteen (15) to twenty (20) years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of creative problem solving.
- Experience developing/managing capability roadmaps
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and internal teams
- Strong communications skills; demonstrated experience briefing groups and customer executives
- Past experience must demonstrate a strong understanding of effective systems architecture and software development.
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or similar agile development experience.
- Behavior Driven Development (BDD) or Test-Driven Development (TDD) experience.
- Familiarity with enterprise systems architecture models such as DoDAF
- Familiarity with cryptographic concepts
- Prior experience with cross domain security solutions
