Hiring for Fall/Winter - Start Date Mid August
Being a Swim Instructor is a rewarding experience that leaves a lasting impact on the youth and adult swimmers by teaching life-long water safety skills and techniques. Responsible for teaching required skills correctly and enthusiastically, while monitoring the progress of your participants. These instructors could teach group, private, or semi-private lessons.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Instructs swim classes in accordance with the Park District’s instructional swimming program.
- Maintain an ongoing evaluation of each student throughout the session, including attendance and issue a report card when completed. Ability to take and apply feedback from members on programs, performance, and teachers.
- Work set schedules, including at least one full weekend session, evening sessions, and be available in case of an emergency. Able to work all days of the scheduled sessions and if unable, secures a substitute for the day missed.
- Maintain a safe pool environment which includes knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, action plan, and class management.
- Must attend various trainings and in-services to maintain and progress teaching skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age; or 15 years of age with an Illinois Worker’s Permit.
- First Aid/CPR/AED required.
Work Environment:
The position requires standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and seeing; flexibility in work schedule which includes days, nights, and weekends; is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions which may include varying weather conditions, and is subject to chlorinated water.
