Job Summary:
Ensure individual resident assessment and comprehensive care plan are followed. Supervise resident care personnel. Communicate and observe the Corporate Compliance Program and comply with Code of Conduct.
Essential Functions of the Job:
• Works with DON to determine the optimal allocation of staff, per shift on each unit.
• Coordinates the care of residents/clients on assigned shift. Communicates shifts concerns by unit to appropriate staff (via e-mails or voicemail).
• Serves as administrative authority for the smooth function on assigned units and/or shift.
• Receives employee, resident and family grievances. Refers information to appropriate supervisor.
• Assists DON in completing risk assessments and investigations of injury.
• Assists in survey compliance, quality assurance and staff development duties, as assigned.
• Identifying supply and equipment needs.
• Counsels personnel, as indicated. Completes appropriate documentation and communicates with DON.
• Assures that staffing is in place and assigns and directs staffs as needs arise.
• Assist in replacing for absences and vacancies for upcoming shift(s).
• Recognize changes in condition of the residents and notify the Director of Clinical Health Services.
• Supervise serving of diets and fluid intake.
• Randomly verify inventory of drugs covered by the Controlled Substance Act in the emergency box weekly.
• Conducts systematic reviews of documentation for accuracy and completion from admission to discharge.
• Maintain a current list of residents’ problems that need a physician order or follow-up by next shift.
• Review all transcribed physician’s orders.
• Review all nurses’ notes of any change in condition, incidents, or accidents occurring during shift.
• Assist in writing and updating Resident Assessment and Comprehensive Care plans as residents’ condition changes.
• Complete documentation audits on new admissions and re-admissions for accuracy and completion.
• Conduct audits on skin assessments weekly.
Qualifications
Physical Requirements:
• Work environment involves slight physical risks or hazardous conditions and exposure to communicable diseases.
Education and Experience Required:
• Licensed Practical Nurse; Registered Nurse preferred.
• Current Nurse in the State of Georgia.
• Good standing with the Georgia Board of Nursing.
• CPR certification.
• Experience in long-term care preferred.
• One or more years of supervisory experience.
