Lenoir Health & Rehabilitation Center in Lenoir, NC is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our leadership team as the Director of Recreation.
As the Director of Recreation, you will play a vital role in advancing our mission of Care Beyond Compare by leading the development, coordination, and execution of recreational and therapeutic programs that enhance the quality of life for our residents. You will oversee activity staff and collaborate across departments to ensure a holistic and engaging resident experience.

- Develop and manage a comprehensive calendar of social, recreational, spiritual, and cultural activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents
- Supervise, train, and schedule recreation staff and volunteers
- Ensure programming meets regulatory guidelines and supports residents’ physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate recreation into overall care plans
- Maintain documentation of activities, resident participation, and outcomes
- Manage the recreation department budget, supplies, and equipment
- Foster community partnerships to enhance activity offerings
- Lead seasonal events, outings, and special programs that reflect resident interests
- Promote a positive, energetic, and inclusive environment
- High school diploma required; degree in Recreational Therapy, Gerontology, or related field strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a long-term care or senior living setting, including leadership experience
- Certification as a CTRS, ADC, or related credential is a plus
- Strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and a resident-centered mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and foster team collaboration
