The Le Roy Central School District is seeking an anticipated 1.0 secondary Science teacher (Grades 7-12) for an appointment beginning in September 2022. The position will be for Physics Regents among many other opportunities in extracurriculars. We are seeking an individual to join our top-notch Science department that is highlighted by our strong annual Regents results. The department also boasts many high-level learning opportunities through AP Chemistry and AP Biology. The Jr.-Sr. High School has 550 students in grades 7-12, 70 staff members, and has a proud tradition of academic excellence and maintains high behavioral standards. We have a very diverse and vast course catalog that allows our students to challenge themselves and expand their horizons. Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
- Possess NYS Certification in 7-12 Science with a concentration in Physics
- Possess NYS Certification in 7-12 Science with a concentration in Earth Science
- Possess NYS fingerprinting clearance
- Prepare and teach Regents Physics and 8th Grade Science in accordance with NYS curriculum and standards
- Prepare and instruct literacy-rich Science courses
- Prepare and instruct academic support for Science students
- Stay current in research-based instructional practices and pedagogy, NYS standards, assessment, curriculum, and Response to Intervention practices
- Maintain and enhance collaboration with team members and department members
- Utilize technology to maximize instruction and learning
- Promote social emotional learning and restorative practices
- Demonstrate a desire to advise extracurricular activities and/or serve as a coach for an athletic team
