Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Property Management Accounting Specialist to join our team. The Specialist will oversee the financial aspects of property management, including budgeting, financial reporting, and general ledger reconciliation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in double-entry bookkeeping and financial report interpretation.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the financial operations of assigned properties
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets for assigned properties
- Provide support in ensuring invoices are accurate and process weekly AP check runs and ACH payments
- Maintain vendor files, W-9's, managing 1099's and compliance records
- Review deposit reports and reconcile payments in Yardi
- Ensure move-in/move-out charges are posted correctly and refunds are completed within 30-45 days
- Conduct general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Provide prelims and prepare journal entries (prepaid expenses and adjustments) prior to finalizing accounting reports monthly
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting for property expenses
- Collaborate with property managers to develop and implement financial strategies weekly, monthly, quarterly, or as needed
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies
- Track and ensure payment of debt service, taxes and insurance for all properties
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and documentation
- Assist with monthly bank recs for property operating and security deposit accounts
Pay: $57,000 to $70,000 per year
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of CSMS systems
- Experience with property management systems, Yardi a plus
- Experience and knowledge of HUD and Conventional financial requirements
- Proficiency in double-entry bookkeeping and financial report interpretation
- Experience with general ledger reconciliation and accounting processes
- Familiarity with budgeting techniques and financial forecasting
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Bachelors in Math, Accounting, any relevant degree is Preferred
