LC State invites applications for the position of Counselor.

Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $26,000 - $28,756 (.5 fte)

Degree Required:

  • Master's degree in direct clinical practice Human Services field (Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Counseling or closely related field) from a regionally accredited college or university

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed or ability to become licensed as a professional counselor (LPC), social worker (LMSW), or related field in Idaho within one year
  • Experience providing direct counseling services and support to adults
  • Ability to work flex hours including evening and weekend hours as directed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical counseling experience providing direct counseling services to individuals, couples, and groups
  • Aptitude at providing counseling services to students including individual, couple, and group services, in a college/university counseling center
  • Facilitation skills in the provision of tele-counseling services to clients in a professional setting
  • Ability to provide bilingual clinical and outreach services to the campus community
  • Evidence of knowledge and/or skills in offering clinical supervision to graduate-level students
  • Experience using an electronic healthcare record system for documentation and scheduling
  • Experience in career assessment and counseling with individuals and/or groups

Responsibilities:

  • Offer direct multi culturally-oriented brief counseling services to all students including to the adult learner and returning students.
  • Service provided will include initial and crisis triage consultations, individual therapy, couples counseling, career assessment and counseling, and group counseling as needed.
  • Provide effective referrals to community mental health providers as necessary.
  • Develop collaborative relationships and programming with various Student Affairs departments, campus divisions, and other organizations including clubs and support services and resources.
  • Provide career counseling and support services including assessment, direct counseling, relevant workshops, and referral services for incoming students, adult learners, and returning students.
  • Develop and implement outreach programs and workshops designed to increase retention and graduation rates with our entire population especially focused on historically underrepresented students and to increase students' mental health and resilience.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical documentation, case management, and scheduling using our electronic medical record system.
  • Provide scheduled evening and weekend direct services as directed. Any changes to specific clinic schedules will be based on need each semester, but the primary consideration is to meet clinic service delivery needs and to provide adequate coverage, which requires flexibility and episodic changes to schedule.
  • Provide direct crisis intervention services to students and make appropriate referrals to community resources as necessary.
  • Participate and effectively collaborate with the Director of Student Counseling Center (SCC) and other staff members in regular clinical supervision, consultation, administrative, professional development, and program development meetings.
  • Provide support and/or supervision, when tasked to do so, to student Work Scholars, Work Study or bachelor level student interns, or master's level counseling or social work interns.
  • Participate in and/or provide and/or share leadership in various SCC directed or affiliated campus groups, programs, committees and coalitions including the Student Support Network (SSN), Health and Wellness Committee (HWC), Region 2 Behavioral Health Board (BHB), Resources Empowering Action for Community Health (REACH), Suicide Prevention of the Inland Northwest (SPIN), etc.
  • When warranted and appropriate, offer consultation to Behavior Response Team (BRT), administration, faculty, staff, and family members regarding students in crisis.
  • Work with the Director and other staff members in the development/review of agency policy and procedures and protocols for client care and emergency management as needed.
