What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Lex Products?
Material Handler
Department: East Warehouse, 11 Forest Parkway, Shelton, CT
Hours: 7:30 -4 pm (with possible overtime & weekend work)
Summary: Material Handlers are responsible for ensuring that each production line gets the material they need to complete their builds (per Job Order Bill of Materials). Material Handlers are also responsible for informing their supervisor and the Kit Inspector of incomplete kits or missing materials. The Material Handler works with the warehouse supervisor and coordinator to ensure inventory quantities are accurate and that needed materials are on hand for work to be completed efficiently and safely.
Sample Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with site supervisors to ensure that the correct product is in place for production schedules.
- Gather materials for upcoming & scheduled jobs (kitting)
- Interact with the Kit Inspector, area supervisors and line assemblers on any issues that may arise.
- Assist in other Warehouse areas as needed
- Perform tasks while complying with company safety policies.
- Work overtime when required
- Follow OSHA standards and ISO 9001 and AS9100 practices
- Perform other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements:
- 1 years of material handling and inventory management experience
- High school diploma or GED or any other equivalent diploma needs to have at least 2 years of more experience working in with a manufacturing company (electrical parts experience is preferable)
- An understanding and experience in Bills of Materials, routings, cycle count, the function of inventory control and order processing
- Ability to maintain an attendance record in good standing (per Lex policies) in order to timely fulfill Material Handler duties
- Effective organizational skills and an attention to detail
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in the work environment and work assignments
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted throughout the day
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
