Senior Technician (Plastics)

Title: Senior Technician - Plastics

Purpose

This is a Senior position within the Plastics department to consistently produce molds and casts across a variety of composite materials with excellent quality; this position is responsible for oversight over their assigned project’s tasks and execution within a small team. This person must be a highly self-motivated individual that can move quickly and efficiently from one task to another.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Manage the execution of the process for molding and casting according to the schedule.
• Collaborate and communicate with Director of Technical Assembly to anticipate schedule conflicts, resource issues, and hand-offs between departments.
• Project upcoming inventory needs based on upcoming schedule.
• Execute processes for molding/casting to meet quality expectations set by both LF and client standards.
• Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to determine and validate processes.
• Communicate with Creative Producer and Project Director to ensure creative intent and quality is being met.
• Senior Technicians are responsible for the quality of their small project team’s work to meet project standards.
• Request training for yourself or your small project team as needed to meet expectations.
• Complete Plastics Fabrication QAP as required by each project.
• Responsible for their small project team’s QAP completion, if applicable.
• Identify potential ways to improve efficiency.
• Propose ways to innovate and improve upon processes, workspace, documentation, and communication.
• Identify when the schedule will require additional resources, new hires, and/or equipment to meet deadlines and expectations.
• Establish shop safety guidelines, practices, training, and hold teammates accountable.
• Training Apprentice- and Associate-level technicians on appropriate molding and casting techniques and methodologies.
  
  

Other responsibilities may include one or more of the following:

• Ability to travel on installs with minimal direction/oversight.
• Tracking and reporting inventory.
• Cross-trained and excelling in another discipline such as sculpting, shell fit-up, silicone, shell clean up – exhibiting the above qualities.

Compensation

• Hourly position.
