What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Training Coordinator position at LGSTX?

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·         Works with both ILN and non-ILN locations with the safety teams to create an environmental awareness of safety.  Is present in operations to observe and coach.  Reports potential hazards and follows-up to ensure their abatement. 

·         Works with both ILN and non-ILN locations to develop, implement and provide oversight of training programs.

·         Audits LGSTX locations for compliance with Safety and Training requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities - Directly supervises the LGSTX LMS and safety program implementation at the assigned LGSTX locations.

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or ExperienceAssociate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 3 year’s related experience in a busy industrial setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must be familiar with the safety and environmental issues encountered in an industrial work environment and be aware of good practices to mitigate safety and environmental risks. Must be familiar with LMS. Must have a valid driver’s license with no DUI’s in the last 5 years.

Preferred Skills:  Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, FAR, CFR 40 & 49, and applicable sections of the state regulations.  Preferred Certifications – DOT Haz Mat and RCRA

Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn Litmos (LMS) and other relevant company software programs.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
