Job Details
Liberation Academy is seeking a part-time art teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, creative, and skilled educator who can inspire students to explore their artistic potential. This role involves developing and implementing an engaging art curriculum for students in grades 5-8, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, and managing art supplies and equipment. The duties for this role include, but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an age-appropriate art curriculum that introduces students to various art forms, techniques, and historical movements
- Plan and lead hands-on art projects that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them grow as artists
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment
- Maintain and organize art supplies and equipment, including ordering new materials as needed
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate art with other subjects and school-wide initiatives
- Communicate with parents about student progress and classroom activities
- Participate in school events, such as student art shows and parent-teacher conferences
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field
- Previous experience teaching art to children, preferably in a K-8 setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of various art media and techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and/or digital art
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- A passion for art and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students
Benefits
- This is a part-time position, with hours that should not exceed 20 hours per week
- This role will earn $20,000-$27,000 for the academic year
