Job Title: Library Associate 3

The Sumter Library System is seeking a 20 hour part-time Library Associate 3 to float between the Webster library and the Lake Panasoffkee branches.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service at the circulation desk, handling account openings, holds, interlibrary loans, fines, lost materials, and patron account issues.
• Supervise junior Library Associates, including performance management, evaluation, hiring, training, and approving timesheets.
• Work closely with Librarians and library management to plan, implement, and promote programming activities.
• Process newly acquired library materials, including stamping, labeling, and covering.
• Maintain circulation records and oversee mailings to patrons in homebound or other programs.
• Repair damaged materials to maintain collection quality.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Support reference desk services.
• Coordinate volunteers and assign duties, providing necessary training.
• Know and understand the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights and Freedom to Read Statement.

Requirements:

• H.S. Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Three years library experience preferred.
• One-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficiency with library systems and databases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Multilingual speaking is a plus.
• High proficiency in MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work a regular schedule with flexibility for days, evenings, and weekends.
