The LIFE Community based out of Hyannis, MA is seeking a Full Time Employment Counselor to work with our exceptional residents, community employers and employment staff to locate employment/volunteer opportunities and to match the right individual to the right position.

$1000 Sign On Bonus* (explained in full at the interview process)

• Must live in or around the Mid-Upper Cape Cod, MA area.
• Must have a positive and flexible mindset and be able to think outside the box.
• The position is Monday-Friday regular business hours. Ideal 8AM-4PM or 9AM-5PM. We have some flexibility in exactly how that works to make it work for the candidate.

Applicant must be:

• Professional, patient, outgoing and organized
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must have strong computer skills
• Must possess confident and clear telephone communication skills
• MUST be a team player as the Employment Services Team works together for the success of our residents.

Responsibilities include:

• Evaluating the client for strengths and weaknesses in suitability for a position
• Working with client through proper training and communication to ready them for a new position. Re: résumé preparedness, interviewing skills; work readiness skills, etc.
• Work with the Job Coaches to ensure that clients and employers are being supported in a positive manner in the job-site
• Develop schedules for clients and Job Coaches to meet the needs of the employers
• Negotiating with potential employers to find a match position for our clients.
• Document client and employer related contacts and communications as needed
• Additional responsibilities as assigned from Directors

Preferred Background:

• Two years of successful experience in some or all areas of marketing, sales, recruiting or vocational services
• Experience in Retail, Restaurant, Hospitality or Training background excellent
• High School diploma (or equivalent) with some college or technical coursework ideal. Experience with our population also appreciated
• Experience with adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism--paid or volunteer
• Ability to articulate both verbally and in writing in communications with Employers, Employees, Individuals Supported, etc.
• High school diploma and some additional training or education in the field is ideal
• We will train the right person if they possess the right skillset!
• Must have current certification or be willing to attend training through LIFE for CPR/First Aid; must be willing to attend any LIFE or DDS required/recommended training classes
• Possess a valid MA Driver’s license required with acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass DPPC, CORI and Fingerprinting as per DDS
• Present a positive role model to the individuals supported and the job Coaches

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
