What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outpatient Substance Abuse Counselor position at Life Renewal Services?
Life’s Potential Services is a Substance Abuse Treatment Program with locations in Carroll and Howard Counties as well as Baltimore City. We are looking for a Drug and Alcohol Counselor at our Columbia, Maryland location. The Drug and Alcohol Counselor is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of individualized treatment plans utilizing knowledge of substance use disorders to ensure that treatment services rendered meets the unique physical and psychosocial needs of the clients. Substance use screening, assessment, recovery education groups, individual drug counseling, psychosocial referral, discharge planning and follow up are core components of service.
Required Education and Experience
- Certification as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug (CAC-AD) or Certified Supervised Counselor-Alcohol and Drug (CSC-AD) or Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT).
- Experience with conducting individual and group drug and alcohol counseling sessions are a preferred but will be willing train the right candidate.
- 1-3 years of behavioral health experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Supervision hours will be provided
