SUMMARY
Under general supervision, a Certified Professional Coder is responsible for correctly coding healthcare claims in order to obtain reimbursement from private insurance companies and government healthcare programs. This is NOT a remote position.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum three years of coding experience. Excellent computer skills, 10 key by touch, filing and typing proficiency, and familiarity with CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding. Must be proficient in endo, OB, hospital and Ambulatory Surgery Center coding. CPC certification required. Must be experienced in Evaluation and Management (E&M) Coding.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include any and/or all of the following:
1. Performs medical coding for endo, general surgery, and a wide variety of ASC and inpatient codes.
2. Performs charge entry corresponding to respective codes.
3. Verifies and performs mathematical computations; maintains files.
4. Composes and types routine correspondence, memos, letters, etc.
5. Identifies problem accounts with payers.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
