What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist position at LifePoint Hospitals?
The primary responsibility of the phlebotomist is to obtain urine and blood samples competently and expediently by venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick. The phlebotomist has an understanding of the computer system and the capability to monitor sample statuses; inputs and retrieves information from the various systems necessary to perform their job and maintain workflow within the laboratory.
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - BLS may be obtained within week of patient care after orientation.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Licenses:
Certification recommended, but not required
Required Skills
The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psycho/social, education, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served.
