What are the responsibilities and job description for the Battery Technician position at Lightergy?
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated battery lab technician to join our team. In this role, you will support product development by assembling battery cells, setting up and performing tests, and conducting technical analysis of products. You will be working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, contributing to the development of cutting-edge electrical-based products.
This is a temporary position with an expected duration of approximately 3 months to support a specific high-priority project. Candidates who demonstrate strong performance and alignment with team goals may be considered for full-time employment, though conversion is not guaranteed.
What you will do:
- Prepare cell components before assembly; condition, mark, and inspect components and subassemblies. Assemble and build cell products and sort for test analysis.
- Set up laboratory equipment, prepare test material, conduct lab-based experiments, record and analyze data, and write test plans and reports.
- Conducting testing plans for evaluating battery cell performance including capacity, cycle life, charge/discharge rates, and thermal stability. Analyze test data using statistical and data analysis software.
- Work in a team environment; organize and practice safe work habits complying with company policies and OSHA
- Additional duties may be assigned based on company needs
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (e.g. Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Chemistry, Electrochemistry, or a related field) — Equivalent skills through practical, proven work experience will be considered.
- 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting performing tasks that require consistency and precise attention to detail, such as battery assembly, materials handling, or electronics fabrication
- Experience working with battery cells is a plus but not required. Related hands-on experience in fields requiring fine motor skills and procedural discipline are a must.
