What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMR Training Specialist position at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care?
Founded in 1982 as Joliet Area Community Hospice, Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care is an independent, nonprofit healthcare provider licensed in 11 counties in northwest Illinois. We provide exceptional serious illness care, hospice care and grief support for adults and children.
The majority of our direct patient care is in the field with Lightways team members providing care in the home, nursing facility or assisted living facility. We also have a 20-bed inpatient unit in Joliet. Non-clinical staff are based out of our Joliet administrative offices.
The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Training Specialist position is based out of our Joliet office and would need to be onsite for training purposes. The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Training Specialist position is responsible for EMR staff training and providing problem resolutions to enhance clinical operations and workflows. This includes:
- Provides problem resolution with clinical information and technology as it relates to the end-user (staff) accessibility, usability, workflow/processes, policies, and procedures.
- Trains staff in the use of MatrixCare, and other clinical informatics systems.
- Develops and provides relevant, multi-modal training to staff, incorporating individualized learning as appropriate.
- Monitors EMR release notes, updates staff accordingly, and keeps training materials current and relevant.
- Monitors EMR Help Desk tickets, responds to submissions quickly, and resolves issues timely
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in healthcare, information technology or a related field and technical literacy including proficiency with desktop and tablet computers. Significant experience may be substituted for some portion of the educational requirements. Experience with instructional design and curriculum/training material development required. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
