CAD Drafter/Designer
We are looking to reinforce our team with a CAD Drafter II or higher to provide Designs and Drawings and project management for tensioned fabric structures.
We offer training in this highly specialized field of design/drafting. We are a small team that plays a leadership role in its field based on the combined experience and principles of its team.
Lightweight Design Inc. provides engineering & design services for fabric structures that are fee-based, while Lightweight Manufacturing creates fabric panels via a specialized fabric cutting/welding/finishing shop. Most projects are unique custom-designed.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree or Relevant experience in Drafting, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
- Traveling to job sites once a month
- AutoCAD experience is a MUST HAVE for this position
- Experience with 3 dimensional drafting software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks and Rhino is a plus
- Great communication skills to coordinate with other projects supervisor(s)
- Interest in learning about all aspects of fabric structures: materials, design, manufacturing processes and installation aspects
Tasks:
- Create design drawings for new projects showing metal frames & tensioned fabric
- Travel on basis of 1 trip per month, 3-4 days per trip
- Interact with structural engineers and customers to finalize the design
- Create shop drawings for the fabric panels
- Project management for projects associated with drafting and drawings with some or minimal oversight from a project supervisor.
- Create cutting patterns for fabric computer cutting equipment.
- Create Bill of Materials and drawings for metal parts as needed
- Provide support to the manufacturing groups or outside vendors when questions come up
- Create project documents including inspection sheets- Keep track of time per project for billing and internal job costing.
- Learn about new concepts, structures, materials at every opportunity and share knowledge gained openly within the team.

All training in this specialized field is provided internally. This position will involve an introductory onboarding process of 90 days. After successful completion of this 90-day introductory period this position offers full benefits.
Pay Range:$22-$28/hr.
