About the role

The Installation Assistant is part of a 2-person-team, paired with an experienced Installation Technician. Their primary functions are to assist the Technician with installing fiber optic services into a customers home and to learn from their teammate in order to grow within the company and become an Installation Technician. The assistant will do any of the civil works required, which may involve burying temporary drop cables, placing enclosures, fixing hardware into place, as well as assisting with the completion of the customer activation. 

Responsibilities:

• Operate any of the required equipment to place services below ground, this could vary from a shovel to a ditch-witch.
• Be a positive teammate, looking to learn and assist throughout the installation process.
• Be presentable and professional towards customers.
• Work efficiently and neatly.
• Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure that fiber optic installations and repairs meet company standards and customer requirements.
• Follow safety protocols to handle fiber optic cables and related equipment properly.

Skills Required & Physical Demands:

• Must have a valid state driver’s license and clean driving record
• Ability to operate hand tools and handheld mobile devices
• Experience working in customer service, construction, electrical, technical or related field is a plus
• Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Be available for overtime, emergency call outs and holiday work
• Lift and move up-to 60 lbs. – some of our ladders weigh 50-60 lbs.
• At times work in small spaces or a loft (up to 28 ft.)
• Weigh less than 275 lbs., required for ladder safety

Job Type: Full-time with 8 hour shifts

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
