The GIS team understands that you may not have a strong understanding of how an electric distribution system works and that is ok as we are confident that we can teach it to someone who is adaptable and willing to dive into the details.
This position will primarily be focused on electric utility mapping with ESRI ArcMap (GIS), but AutoCAD experience will also be beneficial.
CORE COMPETENCIES AND ESSENTIAL
- Responsible for performing technical functions related to GIS/CAD systems to include creating and maintaining documents and records, conducting office and field research, and assisting staff with design projects. Completes independent tasks on large projects with minimal guidance. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
- Designs technical drawings, visualization models, and maintains related records. Performs updates to GIS/CAD system records and databases utilizing applicable software.
- Inspects, collects, and verifies data and labels electrical facilities for use with GIS/CAD system records per LES procedures. Completion of these duties requires the opening and inspection of energized, high-voltage electrical equipment or entering electrical substations with provided training.
- Creates output from GIS/CAD systems, including plots, reports, and drawings for various departments, contractors, utilities, and government agencies.
- Maintains data for use in circuit load management, system protection, design projects, and engineering planning.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
A typical week in this position would be 4 days of office work and 1 day in the field. Field work will require inspecting new and existing equipment along with tagging/labeling electrical distribution assets as necessary to ensure accuracy of our GIS, Engineering and Outage Management System. While working in GIS our team creates - maintains GIS features, data, and connectivity. We work directly with both Engineering and our Operations teams.
Our team is located together at a new campus located at 9445 Rokeby Rd, Lincoln NE.
