Range 1, Step 6 ($14.17 hr) Non-Exempt

*Morning shift for Lindon Elementary

*Actual work is typically less than one hour in morning; typically, less than one hour in afternoon.

However, compensation is provided for two full hours worked per school day.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Incumbents in this job class ensure the safety of schoolchildren going to or coming from school at designated street crossings and intersections.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

Guards street crossings and intersections during hours when children are going to or coming from school; directs actions of children and traffic at street crossings and intersections to ensure safe crossing; records license number of vehicles disregarding traffic signals and signs and reports infractions to law enforcement; escorts children across street; places caution signs at designated points before going on duty and removes signs at end of shift; may stop speeding vehicles and warn drivers; observes necessary safety precautions; performs other related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a standard senior high school diploma or GED plus some responsible work experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

• Traffic rules and traffic safety
• Public relations.

Ability to:

• Use good judgment.
• Read and express ideas in Englis
• Walk children safely across the street.
• Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• See and hear clearly.

Licenses & Certificates:

None required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Extreme outdoor weather conditions, Traffic hazards
• Considerable standing and walking
• Some light lifting

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

The selected applicant must pass a drug screening test, criminal background check, and driver license check prior to official offer of employment.
