Job Title: Custom Crate Builder

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Custom Crate Builder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for constructing custom-sized crates for shipping materials across the country. This role requires proficiency with power tools, a strong understanding of measurements, and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Crate Construction:

• Design and build custom-sized crates according to client specifications and shipping requirements.
• Utilize various power tools, including saws, drills, and nail guns, to assemble crates.
• Ensure all crates are built to high standards of durability and safety.

2. Measurement and Planning:

• Accurately measure materials and space to ensure precise crate dimensions.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and work orders to determine appropriate crate dimensions and materials.
• Plan and layout work to maximize material usage and minimize waste.

3. Quality Control:

• Inspect finished crates for defects or inconsistencies.
• Ensure all crates meet company standards and client specifications.
• Make necessary adjustments or repairs to meet quality requirements.

4. Safety and Maintenance:

• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines when operating power tools and handling materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.

5. Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with team members and supervisors to ensure timely and accurate completion of orders.
• Communicate effectively with clients to understand and meet their specific needs.
• Provide feedback and suggestions for improving processes and efficiency.

Performance Metrics:
1. Accuracy and Precision:

• Consistently produce crates that meet specified dimensions and client requirements.
• Maintain a low rate of errors or defects in finished products.

2. Efficiency and Productivity:

• Complete assigned tasks within established timeframes.
• Demonstrate effective use of materials to minimize waste and reduce costs.

3. Quality and Safety:

• Adhere to all quality standards and safety protocols.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

4. Client Satisfaction:

• Receive positive feedback from clients regarding the quality and reliability of crates.
• Address and resolve any client concerns or issues promptly.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a crate builder or in a similar carpentry role.
• Proficiency with power tools and woodworking equipment.
• Strong understanding of measurements, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
• Prolonged standing, bending, and manual dexterity.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.

Work Environment:

• Full-time position with regular hours; occasional overtime may be required.
• Warehouse or workshop setting with exposure to noise, dust, and other typical conditions.
