Overview: We are seeking a Property Accountant to join a well-established commercial real estate company. The Property Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of their diverse property portfolio, ensuring accurate accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in property accounting, lease administration, and a keen attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Lease Administration: Manage the lease abstraction process, ensuring accurate and complete recording of lease terms and conditions. Collaborate with leasing teams to interpret and implement financial aspects of lease agreements.
Rent Roll Management: Maintain and update rent rolls for all properties, reflecting current lease information and financial obligations. Calculate and process tenant rent escalations and adjustments accurately.
Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for assigned properties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities. Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties. Provide financial analysis and variance explanations to support decision-making.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with property management and asset management teams to develop property budgets. Contribute to the forecasting process and provide insights into financial performance.
Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with property tax reporting requirements.
Collaborate with tax advisors to prepare property tax returns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a property accountant preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Knowledge of lease accounting principles and familiarity with lease administration software.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
