LINKS Resource Center: Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) Specialist Job Description
LINKS provides resources, advocacy, and connections to improve lives.
Job Summary - Provide ADRC services to individuals of all ages and disabilities, as well as seniors. ADRC coordinates services with other partner agencies, and the community at large.
ADRC Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Information and Referral
- Screen and Assess callers and walk-ins to determine the need for assistance and referral
- Provide information and referral assistance to people who have disabilities, seniors, family members, and other agencies
Options Counseling
- Provide appropriate options counseling and assistance for public and private services to the individual
- Provide advocacy resource information to assist individuals in accessing available
- Assist individuals to complete service applications when requested
- As the first point of contact with most calls and/or walk-ins, an additional part of the ADRC
Specialist’s duties is to have a vast knowledge base of current resources in many categories
(housing, medical support, meals and food resources, and general community knowledge of where to refer consumers) and the contacts in agencies so when a consumer is referred, the information is current and accurate.
Data Input and Outreach
- Complete consumer/caller notes, and other documentation necessary to justify the need for services in the Mat-Su valley and to ensure continued funding of ADRC program
- Attend ADRC meetings in office and monthly ADRC Statewide meetings
- Attend community events as a representative of LINKS from the ADRC program
- Provide outreach and support to rural communities at their location when possible or telephonically
- Duties are provided in-office during regular business hours (unless otherwise arranged)
- Carry out other duties as assigned to support LINKS and ADRC team members
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum:
Ability to work independently and with a team
- Experience providing services to seniors and individual with disabilities
- Ability to work in a high paced environment
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Preferred:
- Thorough understanding of human service delivery systems, such as: working as a Social Worker,
- Human Services worker, or over 5 years experience working with seniors and the aging population, disabled members of the community, as well as those in the community who do not have their basic needs met
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in health and human services
- Ability to digest complex and/or technical material and apply it in real-world situations that affect vulnerable populations
- Ability to record clear and detailed notes in the required format and state programsCore Competencies:

Work Environment:

● Respectful, open, and honest communication between all LINKS ADRC staff is encouraged
● full time position: Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Physical demands: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. – accommodations as needed.
ADRC Specialist Secondary Role:
● Medicare Skilled Certified Medicare Specialist/Counselor working as a liaison with the
- SHIPS office; trainings provided through Federal Medicare Program
- Medicare Experience and Certification preferred, training will be provided.
