The Opportunity
The CFO is a key member of the hospital’s executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring fiscal health, and supporting the organization’s mission of delivering high-quality patient care. This role requires a hands-on, results-driven leader with deep expertise in revenue cycle management, cost reporting, and financial strategy for Critical Access Hospitals (CAH).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial leadership and oversight of treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, and insurance functions.
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to drive financial sustainability and long-term planning.
- Optimize revenue cycle processes, reimbursement strategies (including Medicare/Medicaid and private payers), and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to enhance financial performance and efficiency.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and healthcare technology advancements to position the hospital for future success.
Qualifications & Experience
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
- Preferred: Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or related field)
- Preferred: CPA certification
- Minimum 3 years of senior financial leadership in a Critical Access Hospital.
- Strong expertise in CAH revenue cycle management and reimbursement structures.
- Experience with Epic and Multiview software is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead financial operations in a complex, regulatory-driven healthcare environment.
