What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Farm and Floral Studio Assistant position at Linville Resorts Inc.?
Start Date: Approx. 5/5/2025
Seasonal Job through: 10/17/2025
The "Farm and Flower" department is a combination of the Linville community's sustainable farm and creative floral design studio. The farm’s main focuses are growing delicious vegetables for the Chef to use on the seasonal menus in the dining room, growing cut flowers, and providing a space for community members to take part. Regenerative and organic agricultural practices are important to the farm as we believe in creating ecosystems that feed the community, the business, and the earth. The flower studio is where we use the flowers we grow to create beautiful garden-inspired floral arrangements for the lodge each week and for wedding/events hosted by the club. In addition, we provide club members with flowers for their homes and offer multiple flower classes per season.
The floral and farm assistant will work closely with the department director and team to complete daily floral studio tasks, execute floral installations for events, assist with farm and ornamental garden maintenance. This year, we are looking for someone who is a little more farm-focused but will be expected to assist in all areas as the need arises. The position requires a self-motivated, creative, efficient and detail-oriented candidate who has interest in design, event planning, and farming/gardening. They will have the opportunity to gain hands-on project management skills, and event set-up and design experience. This position is at times physically demanding but can be incredibly rewarding.
We are looking for one full time employee or two part time. Full time employees who are students are expected to maintain a work load of 25 hours per week once school begins.
We offer free room and board to LGC full-time team members. In addition, if a candidate is a current full time student, we also have a program designed to assist with college expenses through the Linville Foundation. The Foundation interviews students each year and scholarships are awarded at the close of the season, averaging to about $6000 per scholarship.
