Prominent professional services company on Long Island is seeking an Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller. This position will offer complete exposure over all accounting and finance functions for the organization and will play a key role in all strategic initiatives – both accounting and finance related.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting function, which includes accounting operations, accounting policy and compliance, financial reporting, payroll and accounts receivable.
- Work to streamline and constantly improve reporting and accounting processes. Executes key controls and perform flux/variance analysis, providing key insights and visibility into the company financial results.
- Resource to the team with strong technical accounting understanding. Support the of accounting policies and procedures to ensure all business and customer transactions are executed and documented in accordance with general accepted accounting policies and company policies.
- Maintain completeness and accuracy of consolidated financial results, and performs the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and footnotes.
- Coordinates and executes the monthly/quarterly close process, ensuring all results are timely posted, consolidated, and fully analyzed, including review of subsidiaries’ financial information and preparation of elimination entries and supplemental schedules.
- Provides guidance and develop the accounting team, which may include the review of the work of others, journal entry reviews, account reconciliation reviews and fluctuation analysis review.
- Generate and maintain various reports for facilitating financial analysis, budgeting, financial planning, balance score card and financial reporting.
- Design and document internal procedures supporting the finance and accounting functions.
- Provide support for ad-hoc financial projects and analysis, along with financial presentations as needed
- Prepare and file various tax returns with the assistance of tax consultants
- Design operational procedures and processes that meet audit standards and improve efficiency
- Assist with budgeting and mid-term plans
- Lead various projects with external professionals, managers and team members
- Make suggestions to management for improving this position, or improving work processes
- Work safely by observing safety rules, policies and procedures. Identify unsafe conditions or actions to the manager
Requirements
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience in public accounting a plus
- MUST have current experience in a professional services firm
- CPA or parts passed a plus
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
Salary : $135,000 - $160,000
