Requirements:
- Certification and/or licensure: CCP/LP/CP in Cardiovascular Perfusion required
- A minimum of 2 years of clinical practice experience
- Experience utilizing high-fidelity and low-fidelity training techniques
- Experience utilizing the CALIFIA simulator
- Ability to instruct and evaluate students in the fundamentals of:
- Heart-lung systems, including heater-coolers
- Components and assembly of the extracorporeal circuit
- Priming the extracorporeal, including cardioplegia components
- Managing cardiopulmonary bypass
- Perfusion math
- Drug preparation and delivery calculations
- Cannula selection
- Physiological assessment
- Autotransfusion
- ECMO/VAD
- Pre-bypass preparation
- Post-bypass activities
- Universal precautions
- Crisis Resource Management
Experience
