Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans for 2-year-olds and Pre-K three-year-olds.
- Create a safe, and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility in schedule to accommodate extended hours or varying shifts as needed.
- Monitor and assess children's progress, and communicate findings with parents and guardians regularly.
- Encourage positive behavior and manage classroom behavior using positive discipline techniques.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive learning environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Prepare and serve snacks and meals, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.
- Assist children with daily routines, including toileting, dressing, and napping.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, training sessions, retreats, and professional development opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on their child's development and responding to concerns.
- Implement and adhere to all school policies and procedures.
Certification Requirements
- DCF Certification (must be completed within 90 days of hiring)
- CPR Certification or willingness to obtain it
- CDA Certification or an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education
- 3 Letters of Recommendation (will be requested)
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a daycare or preschool setting is preferred
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices
- Familiarity with early intervention strategies for children with special needs
- Ability to educate and engage young children in age-appropriate activities
- Experience in providing care and promoting healthy routines
- Strong understanding of childhood literacy education and math concepts
