Position Summary
Join a high-energy, team-oriented clinic where you will function independently to diagnose and treat common pediatric urgent care presentations. You will perform office-based procedures such as laceration repair, splinting and basic fracture management, nursemaid’s elbow reduction, abscess incision and drainage, and foreign-body removal. Ideal candidates thrive in a fast-paced setting, communicate clearly with parents and team members, and share our passion for outstanding pediatric care.
Schedule
- Part-time: 2–3 shifts per week
- Weekday evenings: 4:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Weekends: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (occasional weekend shifts required)
- Pathway to full-time employment as clinic volume and provider interest align
Key Responsibilities
- Independently evaluate, diagnose, and treat pediatric patients in an urgent care environment
- Perform laceration repairs using sutures, staples, or tissue adhesive
- Manage uncomplicated fractures with splinting and provide follow-up instructions
- Reduce nursemaid’s elbow, remove foreign bodies, and perform abscess I&D
- Appropriately triage and refer higher-acuity cases to the emergency department
- Document visits accurately in the EMR (Experity experience preferred)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, MAs, and radiologic technologists to ensure seamless patient flow and exceptional family experience
- Uphold Little Star’s mission and values in every patient interaction
Minimum Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license
- National board certification (FNP-BC/FNP-C, PPCNP-BC, or equivalent)
- Active PALS certification
- At least 1–2 years of recent experience in pediatric urgent care, emergency medicine, or a similar high-acuity outpatient setting
- Demonstrated procedural competence in laceration repair and basic orthopedic care
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to compassionate, family-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
- California NP Furnishing Number and DEA registration
- Prior experience with Experity EMR
- Spanish proficiency
