Driver

POSITION SUMMARY

The Driver is responsible for operating the vehicle in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner, and assisting in the onboarding and offboarding of residents and clients of LiveWell. The Driver ensures the safety of people while being transported. The Driver also maintains the cleanliness of the vehicle and assists the maintenance and/or engagement departments as needed between transportation services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures that residents and clients receive the highest quality service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individual’s needs and rights.
• Must be comfortable interacting with residents and clients experiencing cognitive change and dementia.
• Assists residents/clients into and out of the vehicle, including clients in wheel chairs or with other adaptive devices.
• Designs most efficient driving routes to and from facility/destinations.
• Uses cell phone to contact facility and proper authorities in an emergency.
• Follows posted speed signage.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicle, keeps vehicle clear of ice and snow, and may perform grounds/road safety on campus in partnership with the Maintenance team.
• Reports any vehicle maintenance needs.
• Reports any vehicle accident immediately.
• Records mileage on a daily basis.
• Performs other duties as requested, generally related to the Maintenance and/or Engagement departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School or G.E.D. or some high school and some work experience. Driver’s license must be maintained and with a safe driving record. Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English. Participates in specialized on-the-job in-service training, resulting in the demonstrated ability to maintain the required level of infection control, client safety entering and exiting the vehicle, and supporting LiveWell’s dementia positive philosophies.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Works in well-lighted, well-ventilated vehicle. Will stand, stoop, bend, lift, and walk throughout the workday.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
