We are seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or autism in their daily living activities.

Living With Autism, INC is a provider agency for individuals with developmental disabilities with 2 residential facilities for young men with severe autism and we also have a day center which operates from 9am-3pm Monday-Friday.

Currently our openings are for our day program.

Client 1 :

Adult male requires transportation to and from day program, YMCA and volunteer shift at food pantry (all within 10 miles or less of the day program). This individual is extremely social, friendly and outgoing.

Hours are 8 : 30-5pm Mon and Tuesday, 10-6 : 30 Wed, 9-5 on Thursday and Friday.

This individual requires a staff that is extremely dependable and reliable, capable of being a positive role model in his life, is able to keep and help set boundaries and enjoys things like music, comedy (he loves to do skits and shows at the day program), basketball, and football.

Client 2 :

Adult male, Mon-Friday 9-3pm at the day program (Tryon / Gorman St) with the opportunity to do morning / afternoon hours in Wake Forest / NE Raleigh area. He is a very happy guy who loves going out around the community, bowling, and socializing with his staff / others.

Client 3 :

Adult male, Mon-Fri 11-3pm at our day program. THis individual enjoys activities such as shredding paper, socializing with friends, playing UNO. He is very friendly and social once he builds a rapport and trusts you. He requires an individual who will be a great role model, set boundaries, help him broaden his experiences in the community, and is reliable, dependable, patient, even-tempered, and is not easily offended.

Requirements :

This position requires an active individual with patience. Experience in group home setting is preferred but not necessary

Schedule coordination is done during training.

Required skills and documents for this job are :

US citizen

Valid driver’s license

Active car insurance

High school / GED minimum

18 years of age or older

Active

Patience

Has thorough understanding of Autism and other developmental disabilities

Reliable transportation

CPR 1st Aid (can train onsite)

NCI (can train onsite)

Minimum 2 years with the population served

We require staff to always have prompt shift coverage. It is going to be a routine and scheduled day, being on time and at work every day you are scheduled is extremely important with our population. Late to shift or call outs will be unacceptable with some extreme exceptions.

Responsibilities for this job are :

Complying with all policies and procedures within Living with Autism, INC and completing the new hire trainings as required

Following routine and schedules for individuals based on their individual service plans and any other plans included with their needs, along with full encouragement of independence.

Medication administration (possible)

Cleaning, organizing and maintaining a sanitized environment at all times

Community Outings with individuals following strict PPE

Documentation Completion
