Intensive Care Manager
at the Livingston County Department of Health
- Full Time- Start: $25.47/hr, After 6 months$28.30/hr
Minimum requirements:
Applicants must meet all requirements for one of the following qualification options in order to be approved for examination and/or appointment:
OPTION 1:
a) A Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field of study*.
- and*
b) Four years of full-time paid post degree experience working with the mentally disabled.

OPTION 2:
a) A Master’s Degree in a Human Services field of study*.
- and*
b) Two years of full-time paid post degree experience working with the mentally disabled.
* A "Human Service” field of study includes: Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Rehabilitation, Education, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Recreation or Recreation Therapy, Counseling, Community Mental Health, Child and Family Studies, Speech and Hearing, and Sociology.
** Applicants must possess a valid New York State driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain same throughout employment along with an automobile which may be used to perform job duties.
Typical Work Activities:
The Intensive Case Manager (ICM), (Mental Health Services) performs case management activities for clients who have a serious mental illness and other chronic conditions. This class differs from that of Psychiatric Social Work Assistant or Mental Health Social Work Aide in that the ICM works with higher need clients in a more independent fashion than other case management roles. Clients may not be linked to established programs available to mentally ill clients. Therefore, the ICM will need to function independently to develop and follow up on care plans. The ICM works under the general supervision of the Director of Community Health Services or his/her designee. The ICM must be available to clients at times other than usual business hours for urgent or emergent needs. The ICM does related work as required.
