LMI is seeking a Data Engineer to work at a client location at Fort Belvoir, VA. Remote teleworking is allowed. Less than 10% required travel.
Data Engineer will work within a small team of data engineers/scientists/analysts to support data projects for Army PL GFIM. Responsibilities will include:
- Review and assess data-related technical deliverables on the inner workings of the solution from data flow/pipelines, transformation/ETL, configurations, data models, ontology and taxonomy etc.
- Review data-related technical sprint activities against requirements and acceptance criteria of user stories.
- Engage technical and functional program SMEs, and key data stakeholders to understand business processes, data and analytical requirements, key data elements, data mappings, data protection guidelines, etc.
- Provide support identifying notional data strategies as needed.
- Support the process to ensure relevant technical rules are identified and being applied to data in regard to classification and data aggregation.
- Provide support in driving the resolution of data issues that are identified throughout demos, deployment of code to various environments, user testing, etc.
- Develop data-related architecture documents in appropriate formats.
- Lead data-related technical working sessions with appropriate stakeholders.
- Define and develop techniques to integrate, consolidate, and structure data for supporting functional workflows, analytical use.
- Understand and analyze complex and organization-specific datasets.
- Research, analyze, and document various technical approaches (including implementation, benefits, constraints, outcomes, and any associated risks)
- Develop briefing packages to communicate complex ideas to non-technical customers.
- Propose alternative designs and processes to manage various types of data using both standard and custom tables and fields.
- Provide recommendations for improvements in data strategies to include changes to governance, stewardship, integration, and standardization.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, or other related business or quantitative discipline required.
- Active DoD Secret clearance required. Must have at a minimum, an Interim Secret Clearance.
- 2-3 years of related experience in the field is required (including data architecture, data pipelines, coding best practices, data analytics, Al modelling).
- Experience designing, building and implementing data pipelines.
- Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining APIs that support data interfaces with external systems.
- Experience with AWS products and Mulesoft
- Experience in programming languages such as SQL and Python.
- Experience with containerization
- Innovative problem solving and root cause identification skills.
- Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
- Able to work effectively at all levels of an organization.
- Must be a team player and able to work with and through others.
- Ability to influence and align others and move toward a common vision or goal.
Desired:
- Master's degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, or other related business or quantitative discipline
- Experience with US Army Enterprise Data
- Experience with Data Mesh
- Experience with Federated Data Architecture Paradigm and Design Patterns
