Essential Functions
Comply and enforce with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
Develop and maintain a working relationship with the owner or the owner's representative.
Read, understand, and plan according to the work specifications and contract responsibilities.
Anticipate project conflicts, communicate preventative action plans, and implement solutions to avoid issues.
Understand and plan work according to project plans, change orders, shop drawings, subcontracts, purchase orders, and monthly pay estimates.
Select and oversee Subcontractors and Suppliers.
Create, update, review, and maintain budget for project.
Generate solutions to stay on time and on budget.
Monitor the cost of Equipment/Materials on the project and implement strategies to stay within budget.
Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines In P6 CPM.
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
Oversee daily field activities leading to optimal progression of project with Superintendents.
Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience managing highway and bridge construction projects.
Minimum 3 years TxDOT experience preferred.
Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent work experience.
Proven working experience in project management.
Heavy/Highway construction methods and techniques.
Competencies
Ability to work under pressure and with time restrictions.
Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability appropriately communicate with diverse work groups and individuals.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are required
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Positive customer service orientation, with both internal and external clients is required.
Strong commitment to jobsite safety and diligent in demonstrating safe work practices.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Days and hours of work are normally Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Overnight travel may be required.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand for long periods. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Must be able to quickly respond appropriately to unexpected events.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This work environment will be in a field environment and will be required to work on the job site when necessary and will be exposed to outside weather conditions; exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust; moving mechanical parts; uneven, rough and slippery surfaces and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level is usually loud.
