DESCRIPTION: Lorain County Public Health seeks to hire a full-time Administrative Support in the Administrative
Services Division with a typical workday of Monday – Friday, 8:00 to 4:30 pm with evenings and weekends as needed.
FUNCTION
Under general supervision of the Supervisor, assist the public; process financial or fee statements, calculations, and
balance functions; organize electronic and paper data and files; control inventory; answer telephone system;
perform data entry and typing in a variety of programs, create spreadsheets and update databases. Perform other
related duties as required or upon directive in an emergency.
JOB DUTIES
1. Give courteous, prompt attention to persons seeking assistance in the agency; answer questions and provide
information.
2. Collect monies and issue receipts; may certify the accuracy of documents by notarizing.
3. Process monies, billings, etc.; use a calculator to figure computation and/or daily balances; verify the
accuracy of the total; prepare concise and meaningful reports.
4. Answer agency telephone system and greet/direct the public; provide excellent customer service.
5. Manage and update databases and spreadsheets.
6. Sort items alphabetically, numerically, or by subject matter; maintain updated records and complete routine
forms.
7. Open, read, and sort mail and distribute to various divisions or persons.
8. Communicate information both in writing and verbally in a clear and concise manner with staff and the
public.
9. Perform precise administrative support duties requiring some independent judgment; process data and
specific statistical information for reports and special applications. Work collaboratively on team projects as
necessary.
10. Other duties as assigned
MAJOR WORK CHARACTERISTICS
Detail-oriented; proficient keyboard skills; work comfortably with Microsoft Office and Google Suite; communicate
effectively in writing and verbally (bilingual in Spanish is helpful); remain calm and flexible in a fast-paced
environment; work collaboratively with team and agency departments
WORKING CONDITIONS
General office environment. Often noisy. Able to move chairs, car seats, and supplies as needed.
REQUIRED
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent. Prior office experience preferred.
COMPENSATION: $16.07-$20.51/hour plus excellent benefits package, which includes medical, vision, dental, and
life insurance plus paid vacation, personal leave, holidays, and sick leave.
