This position will be filled at either the Quality Assurance Analyst 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate.
Assessor 2 ($75,100 - $119,200)
As an Internal Assessor in Production Quality Assurance (PAQ-2) you will support audits and assessments as a qualified auditor on production activities for weapons, weapons-related, and non-weapons products; and the programs supporting their production. You will lead smaller scope assessment activities, including surveillances and effectiveness reviews and follow up on actions taken in response to audit/assessment/surveillance findings to ensure adequacy of corrective actions are taken.
Assessor 3 ($90,000 - $147,100)
In addition to the duties outlined above at the lower level, the higher-level role will ask you to lead and support audits and assessments of weapons production programs to ensure compliance with contractual quality requirements. The successful candidate will support the integrated audit schedule planning by working with the team lead and applicable personnel to identify assessment activities. You will develop and implement weapons policies and procedures related to quality, data gathering, and analysis, cause and corrective action determination and verification, and process improvement activities. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, providing constructive feedback to ensure compliance and continuous improvement within the Weapons Quality Assurance Program.
What You Need
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree plus 5 years related experience, or equivalent experience and education (MS 2 years; AS 9 years; No degree 13 years); the higher level position will require an additional 3 years related experience.
- Working knowledge and experience of quality assurance regulatory/contractual/technical documents (i.e., Department of Energy [DOE] orders, DOE Order 414.1, 10CFR830, NQA-1, DOE/NNSA weapons quality policy (NAP-401.1), nuclear weapons complex technical business practices, NNSA development and production manual, the NNSA quality assurance procedure and contractual requirements relevant to quality assurance activities).
- Working knowledge and experience leading quality audits.
- Working knowledge and skills in development of tools for quality assurance program development, technical assessments, and corrective action plan development and review, and authoritative reporting to LANL organizations, DOE/NNSA, and contractor organizations.
- Advanced knowledge and experience of quality assurance regulatory/contractual/technical documents (i.e., Department of Energy [DOE] orders, DOE Order 414.1, 10CFR830, NQA-1, DOE/NNSA weapons quality policy (NAP-401.1), nuclear weapons complex technical business practices, NNSA development and production manual, the NNSA quality assurance procedure and contractual requirements relevant to quality assurance activities).
- Advanced level knowledge and experience leading quality audits.
- Advanced level knowledge and skills in development of tools for quality assurance program development, technical assessments, and corrective action plan development and review, and authoritative reporting to LANL organizations, DOE/NNSA, and contractor organizations.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the implementation of LANL contract requirements relevant to assessment and oversight activities.
- Demonstrated experience with the management of nonconforming product and corrective actions, supplier evaluations, supply chain assurance and product acceptance.
- A recognized, relative industry certification in quality assurance such as ASQ's CQA and/or CQE certification.
- Active DOE Q clearance.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
