What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Control Specialist 1 position at Los Alamos National Laboratory?
As the Production Control Specialist for the Advanced Sources and Detectors (ASD) project (nicknamed Scorpius), you will be joining a large and diverse national team constructing a cutting-edge accelerator at the Nevada National Security Site. The Production Control Specialist will be responsible for executing assigned activities within the production and inventory control disciplines. In this role, you will apply general and working knowledge of manufacturing processes and inventory control procedures to support the production of LANL-supplied and assembled equipment to the ASD project.
Work under the direction of technical subsystem leads to execute requirements planning, shop floor scheduling, inventory control, supports shipping and receiving operations. Interact daily with operational manufacturing, engineering, and quality personnel regarding production control, inventory control or procurement related functions; performs assigned duties to meet quality and manufacturing documentation and configuration management requirements.
Adhere to manufacturing policies, programs, procedures and practices; apply standard production and/or inventory control principles, theories, concepts and techniques within discipline; perform conventional production and/or inventory control and/or procurement under direction of senior staff; work with production or subsystem leads to ensure all materials are ready and available for upcoming builds; preforms periodic audits of storage areas and inventories; coordinate receiving and shipping with Designated Procurement Reps, Subcontract Technical Reps, and other team members; ensure all materials are stored according to lab and project policies.

Demonstrated ability to manage material in accordance with applicable quality assurance and industry standards. Ability to learn basic safety requirements.
Customer Service:
Demonstrated experience and excellence in interacting with customers in a customer service-related setting.
Business Systems:
Above average computer skills and demonstrated experience with Inventory Control, Material Tracking systems, and proficient in various software suites, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access
Communication:
Demonstrated experience and excellence in interacting and communicating both written and orally with customers in a customer service-related setting. Ability to proactively work to assist others in achieving the organizations objectives. Ability to communicate findings and make recommendations. Ability to work cohesively in a team environment that encourages collaboration with fellow team members to contribute to the efficiency of the ASD project.
Organizational Skills:
Demonstrated high attention to detail including strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, observation skills and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to multi-task and adjust to the workings of a dynamic environment.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Clearance: Q(Position will be cleared to this level). This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
