Dental Assistant Job Description
Our dental practice is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, team-oriented and reliable dental assistant to add to our team. On the job training is provided - no dental experience necessary! We are a busy two dentist practice known for providing exceptional patient care and our dental assistants are a vital part of our clinical team. This very important team member is responsible for a variety of clinical and patient care related tasks that help keep our day running smoothly and contribute to a great patient experience. While previous dental experience is helpful, we want to find the right person for the position, and are willing to train someone with excellent customer service skills, a high level of attention to detail and a team-oriented attitude! Expected duties include:
- Welcoming patients after check in, seating them in treatment operatories and preparing them for their procedures
- Taking radiographs/xrays and other imaging as prescribed by the doctor (Xray Certification needed, will train and provide certification when classes available)
- Clinical chairside assisting the dentist during procedures
- Cleaning, disinfecting and preparing the treatment operatories between patients
- Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and other equipment for use during procedures
- Documenting clinical procedures and ensuring accurate, timely communication with the front office patient care coordinators
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and records
- Stocking and organizing clinical supplies as part of the clinical team. May involve lifting boxes of supplies up to 20 lbs and up or down one flight of stairs. Shared general housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, taking out trash, staff laundry and dishes, etc in the clinical area.
- Occasional phone support or communication with patients and support organizations such as dental laboratories and other medical offices
- On the job training provided!
Attributes we are looking for:
- customer service or general clinical/medical experience; dental experience a plus but not required
- excellent communication skills, people skills and problem-solving skills.
- general computer skills including word processing, email, and willingness to learn dental-based electronic records and management programs
- a friendly, positive and professional demeanor when interacting with patients and teammates
- supportive, positive contributor to team environment
- dependable, self-motivated, strong attention to detail and organized, high integrity and ethical standards, and a passion for providing exceptional service to patients of all ages and their families
- the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize tasks is required
- high school equivalent or GED
- If no dental or medical experience, a willingness and commitment to learning the intricacies of dental treatment procedures and building strong patient relationships. Willingness to learn administrative side related to treatment planning and coding, scheduling, financial arrangements, and insurance benefits a plus.
Required certifications: (we will provide certification training if needed!)
- Infection Control Certification, Dental Practice Act certification
- Xray Radiology Certification
- BLS/CPR certification
- HIPAA training as related to patient confidentiality
- All other trainings/certifications required by law

Job Type and Schedule: Full-time, 8-5 M-Th, no Fridays, no weekends and most holidays off (paid)
Pay: DOE, $17 - $23.00 per hour
