Job Summary
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is currently seeking a qualified applicant for a full time Lifeguard position at the Dulles South Recreation and Community Center in South Riding, VA. The Recreation Center features a competition pool as well as a leisure pool with a water slide, children's play area and hot tub. This position will assist with maintaining records and assist with new employee orientation for aquatics staff. A successful candidate will be organized, patient, and an effective communicator.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
This position is eligible for a $3,000.00 hiring bonus in accordance with the County’s Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma.
Preferred Qualifications
Pass criminal background and credit checks.
Must have Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, including First Aid and CPR, prior to beginning work.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Performs daily custodial and maintenance duties to ensure a safe, clean aquatic facility, reconfigure pool for activities and events and assists with special events.
- Observes and enforces pool rules and regulations.
- Assists with clerical duties, including utilizing scheduling software, and maintains required aquatic facility records.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Rescues distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment; contacts emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury; provides emergency care and treatment as required.
- May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer at least 1-year supervisory experience.
- Lifeguarding Instructor, AED and Supplemental Oxygen preferred.
- Water Safety Instructor and Membership in Virginia Recreation and Park Society and the National Recreation and Parks Association. One (1) year aquatic experience including aquatics programming and pool facility management, working with the public, groups and organizations.

Salary : $32,757 - $54,050
