Job Title:                           Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Reports to:                        Development Officer

Job type:                           Part-time (20 hours/week), hybrid or on-site in Leesburg, VA

FLSA Status:                      Non-exempt, hourly

Salary:                              $28-$35/hour, rate will be commensurate with experience and education


Position Summary: The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will lead storytelling, branding, and public awareness-building initiatives for the clinic, and must be bilingual in English and Spanish. The person in this role will generate and execute annual and multi-year communications plans. This position is responsible for Marketing and Communications activities to support, advance, and meet the organization’s strategic goals including new patient growth, health education, increasing community awareness, and fund development. The position is supervised by the Development Officer and collaborates regularly with staff, volunteers, patients, and the Board of Directors. The position is on-site in Leesburg, Virginia with some flexibility. Specifics will be discussed during the interview process.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Marketing and Communications Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of a dynamic communications and marketing plan with both annual and multi-year timelines.
  • Track key performance indicators and use data to analyze and optimize communications impact.
  • Manage and support vendors and volunteers working on communications and community outreach for the clinic.
  • Actively contribute to strategy discussions with management and leadership.


Brand Identity

  • Develop brand strategy, key messages, and guides to ensure consistent use throughout the organization. Ensure consistent voice and clarity in all messaging and visual content.


Digital Marketing

  • Create and manage content across digital platforms, including website, email, social media channels to build LFC’s brand, enhance public engagement, and grow supporter base.
  • Coordinate with and manage vendor(s) as needed to update and optimize platforms.


Storytelling

  • Craft compelling stories and visual assets that reflect the humanity of the clinic’s patients and communicate the importance of the clinic’s work.
  • Use digital, video, audio, and print media to share the clinic’s stories.
  • Develop and train staff in best practices and procedures for gathering stories, photos, and other content for communication purposes.


Patient Communications

  • Develop and implement strategies and materials to grow LFC patient population in collaboration with the Outreach Coordinator.
  • Identify opportunities and implement appropriate strategies for enhancing communication with current patients
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders and experts to craft content and materials for health education initiatives


Donor Communications

  • Support fundraising efforts by developing strategic communications and donor-facing materials and content, to include email newsletters, annual report, appeal letters, case statements, and more, in alignment with the clinic’s brand identity and strategic goals.
  • Utilize CRM (Bloomerang) to record communications interactions with donors and community stakeholders.


Graphic Design

  • Utilize graphic design tools and principles to create visually compelling, on-brand materials and assets for use in various communications initiatives.


Event Support

  • Support planning and execution of fundraising events, donor receptions, and other special events with an eye toward brand, message, and design.
  • Draft speaker talking points and other messaging for special events to maximize strategic alignment.
  • Design on-brand materials for events such as invitations, signage, banners, programs, and more as needed.


Public Relations

  • Develop media plans.
  • Build relationships with press and media contacts locally and nationally.
  • Write press releases.
  • Monitor news items and current events relevant to LFC.


Required Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience working in communications and/or marketing role(s)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Bilingual fluency and literacy in English and Spanish
  • Passion for storytelling and making a positive impact
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Team player mentality with ability to gain trust and confidence with colleagues and constituents from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Self-directed and motivated; able to work in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple priorities while producing high-quality work in a timely manner
  • Working knowledge of digital communications and marketing tools, particularly social media platforms including but not limited to WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.
  • Working knowledge of basic graphic design principles and tools
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with tact and in accordance with applicable laws
  • Willingness to contribute new ideas and perspectives to hone the clinic’s community reach and impact
  • Interest in ongoing professional development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Teams


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years working with or for nonprofit and/or mission-oriented organization(s)
  • 2 years of public relations experience
  • Photography and/or video production skills
  • Ability to use data to evaluate outcomes and adjustment strategies accordingly
  • Experience working with people of various cultural backgrounds
  • Experience in healthcare equity and/or services for marginalized people
