Job Description:
The Communications Coordinator will develop and implement a communication strategy for the Cain Center and will be responsible for managing and directing the Cain Center's internal and external communications. The Coordinator will supervise all public relations staff, create communication strategies for all Cain Center programs, including the Capital Area STEM Network Center and the LSU ONE College Program and will serve as the Cain Center's key spokesperson and media contact.
Job Duties:
50%- Oversees Cain Center communications and branding in various online and print platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, newspapers, and magazines. Oversees the development and maintenance of the Cain Center web sites and social media presence, including methods to deliver messages, ease of navigation, and clarity of information; ensures that all content is current and relevant. Composes and distributes informational fliers and press releases as needed.
15%- Serve as a liaison between the Cain Center and the LSU Office of Communications & University Relations and serve as a consultant and editor for the Cain Center regarding the web presence and press releases for all LSU College and Career Readiness programs. Meet regularly with thought/program leaders on campus dedicated to PK12 outreach with the goal of building consistent branding of all Cain Center programs. Help develop marketing strategies that support the Cain Center programs.
15%- Supports the Executive and Associate Directors in making strategic decisions regarding future activities of the Center. Assists in developing presentations on Cain Center programs and assists in the preparation of reports and strategic plans. Provides suggestions concerning graphics, clarity, distribution, and press releases.
10%- Assists the Cain Center leadership to develop a strategic plan as well as a communications and marketing strategy that builds and maintains the Cain Center's positive brand.
10%- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of Cain Center programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education Level: Bachelor's
Specific Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
Years of Experience: 1
Additional Requirement:
- Valid Driver's License required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education Level: Master's
Specific Degree Required: Master's degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
Specific Experience: Communication and/or marketing experience in an higher education setting. At least two years experience in a position (or positions) with communications, marketing, and/or event coordination responsibilities. At least one year of experience managing external communications as well as social media and web content.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; superior ability to write in a journalistic style that is customary for external publications. Excellent interpersonal skills. Organized with attention to detail.
