The Louisville Metro Housing Authority is seeking a Financial Controller to ensure reporting accuracy, integrity, and external accountability.
Position Overview
The Financial Controller is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the organization’s financial reporting and budgeting processes. This role oversees technical accounting, internal controls, and financial stewardship to support organizational transparency and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Manage monthly and quarterly close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements (FDS).
- Coordinate audits and serve as liaison with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and GASB standards.
Budgeting:
- Lead organization-wide and departmental budgeting processes.
- Monitor and report on budget vs. actual performance.
Policies & Controls:
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with SOX/GASB frameworks.
- Oversee master data governance for chart of accounts.
Technical Accounting & Complex Transactions:
- Handle leases, derivatives, OPEB, grant and fund accounting.
- Manage revenue recognition and cost allocations.
Treasury & Cash Accounting:
- Oversee bank reconciliations and investment accounting.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Seven (7) plus years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, preferably including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and SOX compliance.
- Experience with complex transactions and technical accounting.
Preferred:
- Experience in public sector or nonprofit organizations.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
