Love Envelopes, Inc. is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Prepress Technician.
- The Prepress Technician is a skilled technician whose role is to ensure that customer-supplied artwork for envelopes is translated correctly into proofs and print ready files for our presses. The prepress tech is a key part of the production team and works cooperatively with others to ensure that our customers’ design specifications are met. Operating on a Mac OSX platform and other computer-controlled systems as well as Adobe Suite and Esko printing software, the Prepress Technician performs color-separation, retouching or updating customer supplied files, platemaking and proofing files to ensure proper format, appearance, layout, and text is set prior to envelope production.
R E S P O N S I B I L I T I E S
Computer Administration
- Checks e-mail several times a day
- Expert in Mac computer programs including In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat an Esko Prepress Software.
- Proficient in PC computer programs including Outlook, Word and Excel

- Clearly communicates in oral and written work
- Conducts business with customers in an organized manner and properly prioritizes activities
- Notifies assigned Outside CSR of any special or unusual interaction with customer. This includes QCF's, production delays, customer questions or inquiries.
- Assist others as requested by supervisor

- Prevents errors by reading job jacket, purchase order, and order form before any job starts.
- Ensures any discrepancies or changes on paperwork have written explanations, and that al problems are reported.

- Performs review of purchase order to determine job instructions
- Ensures all production processes will produce finished goods in accordance with the customer
- Purchase Order and job ticket. Including: size, color, weight, style and quantity
- Initials and dates in all required places during production
- Safety
- Observes all safety rules and wears all PPE as instructed
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment
- Keeps all aisles free of obstructions, clean and safe
- Reports all accidents to supervisor immediately
- Special Requirements
- Ability to self motivate
- Ability to read ruler measurements
- Basic math including multiplication, addition, subtraction, division and fraction conversion required
- Prepress Major Responsibilities: Preflight all incoming electronic media; produces hardcopy and PDF as needed for proofing. Efficiently produces plates using Presstek and CDI CTP equipment; works with CSR and directly with customers to provide assistance in pre-press needs. Ensures accuracy of orders and logs; demonstrates courtesy in all contact with customers. Proficient in graphic arts programs in both Mac and PC formats.
- Utilizes complete PDF workflow using Esko Automation Engine.
- Ability to make litho and flexo plates via CTP.
- Prepress Job Characteristics: 80% to 100% of each workweek is spent siting. Job orders and paperwork are read daily. Visual inspection of plates is performed. Proficient with Mac computers with heavy emphasis in Illustrator CS6 with Esko tools.
- Ability to recreate customers artwork if needed.
- Previous experience in print layout knowledge, envelope manufacturing and postal regulations a plus.
- Knowledge and understanding of Macintosh computers, high-end rip environment and working in a network environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Esko Automation Engine Good working knowledge of litho and flexo printing specifications such as trapping, 4-color process, screen angles, screen ruling, and Pantone inks. Proficiency in trapping software.
- Ability to troubleshoot customers art files and prepress equipment.
- Performs regular PM on prepress equipment.

Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
