Job Summary
The primary purpose of this role is to lead the development of target-state architectures, roadmaps and solutions, focusing on technologies at the product group level or within an architecture domain (e.g., business, application, data, infrastructure). With time and experience, the individual in this role may support several applications spanning multiple product groups and/or multiple architecture domains (e.g., business, application, data, infrastructure).
This includes working with development teams, building and delivering architecture solutions and/or providing guidance to ensure that program and project architectures adhere to target-state architectures, standards, and roadmaps. The Lead Enterprise Architect plays a critical role in ensuring continuity of architecture and alignment to the organization's technology direction.
To be successful, the individual in this role must have system design experience as well as an understanding of technical trends and innovation. This individual must also have a strategic thought process, strong business acumen, and be comfortable communicating with senior leadership.
This role receives some limited guidance and direction from more senior level architects on the team.
With a focus specifically on Data Architecture, this role leads the development of domain-specific data models to drive consistent use of data across application portfolios. This includes responsibility for documenting the current state of Lowe's data architecture through collaboration with Data Owners, Architects, and Subject Matter Experts. It also includes working closely with solution delivery teams to ensure adherence to data principles, the adoption of data standards, and the alignment to the desired target state.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)
• 8 years of experience in IT
• 5 years of experience in IT system design or architecture
• 2 years of experience leading technical teams with or without direct reports
• Experience defining target state architectures and roadmaps
• Experience working in a large matrixed organization
• Experience in an IT role requiring interaction with senior leadership
• Experience delivering system design solutions in an agile environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, or related field
• 3 years of experience in an IT role requiring interaction with senior leadership
• 2 years of experience working with third party IT vendors and/or IT system solution providers
• 3 years of experience with commercial off-the-shelf package integration
• Experience in IT within the retail industry
• 2 years of experience working with Enterprise Architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF or Zachman
• Familiarity with Cloud technologies such as Azure, Google, and AWS
Data Architecture
• 4 years of experience working as a Data Architect (specific to the Data Architecture role)
• 2 years of experience with Data Modeling, Process Modeling, UML and other modeling techniques (specific to the Data Architecture role)
• Familiarity with 3rd party tools like IBM InfoSphere, Teradata, Hadoop, various SQL and NoSQL Databases (specific to the Data Architecture role)
• 2 years of experience working with MDM Solutions, preferably over Customer and Product Domains (specific to the Data Architecture role)
• 2 years of experience in Data Management and Data Governance Processes (specific to the Data Architecture role)
